I use loops to hold the flies... like Ken says sometimes I gate to reattach once. I have a spool of 20# hard mono, that I use to spool to one of those neat little spools that florro comes on. When it's empty... I fill it.
I figure I can create a whole new leader with flies attached and rigged to fish in less than 3 minutes.
Like Ken said also the biggest or heavies fly should be at the point (Fartherst from the Fly Line) not at the head (closest to the flyline) a common rig I like is a clam or shrimp at the head, a small fly like a changeup or ray's fly (much prefer the changeup) and a larger flatwing 4-14 inches, at the point. This rig I can cast with a 4 weight rod and it is not a pro blem. If it is on a larger rod... you can hardly tell the difference3 when casting it. I also relax my cast opening the loop and it seems not to create fowls like a fast tight power cast.
my 2 cents!
