That will work on your conventional rig too. That is what the guys did in the old days to save plugs only they used fifty pound for the shocker.
A couple of turns on the reel. My Dad showed me that when I was a little kid. He used to fish the canal. He liked those lead headed eel skin rigs with the two hooks.
