Ask them to take you and do not do anything except what they tell you to do.
Just bring a camera - no fishing rod.
Then leave and ask the next one. Make sure you bring your camera and tell them that you are doing an article or a piece for National Geographic.
They are good people and they talk like everyone else they have ever met talk.
They, "Feel," like they caught 100 plus fish adn that is all that actually counts.
It is hard to accept that as a part of fishing but you have to learn that it is and is never going to change.
IF you go out there and catch in front of them they will leave.
If you bring in pictures they will hate you. If you catch a ton of fish and they do not they will either worship you or ridicule you.
If you sit with them and talk their talk they will love you as a brother. A very smart woman once said to me that their behavior could be a diagnosis. She was talking about a different behavior but it applies.
Bragging and bullshitting about fishing to strandgers is a part of fishing tradition.
Listening to it gets old quick once you actually have real experience and can catch fish.
