well, been blowing something fierce for a while now. Last friday it was
slick calm (8 days ago) The current was almost nonexistent and the
bones were scarce. I didnt get out again until yesterday. The wind
was horrible so I switched gears and went snapper fishing. Snapper
fishing in a back canal on a windy day with a bag of chips and a beer is
the adult version of bluegill fishing in a farm pond. Perfection! I
caught 3, nice 2-3 pound Mangrove snapper that made it to super. I
also got to watch dozens of species swim in and around the
mangroves. notably; parrot fish were tailing on some tiny shelves near
the shoreline. I found a point that held some monster snook and I
intend to go back to my nocturnal "striper" habits and give that snook
spot another try at 2am. The water temps have climbed to a consitent
upper 70's and even low 80's. I am going to try fishing for bones at
night in two weeks when I get the next full moon. I think their tails
might show up real good in the moonlight. dont know till you go.
