I fished the front side of Crane Beach this evening. While I only caught 1 fish, it did give me a chance to practice fishing the surf.

Lyle, your advice was very helpful. I could also see a definate advantage for using a floating line, as I could easily mend the line and control the drift. On the inbound tide, the current alone the beach front was taking the line quite quickly toward the W while the wind was coming out of the the NW. Cast mend and watch the float. Good practice- now just have to hook-up on a nice fish.
