Is right now along the rocky coasts as there are fish in tight and short casts right in the close white water are a high percentage tactic.

IT is pocket water fishing with rapidly changing currents and reverse flows from the waves.
Korkers are a must but waders are not.

I use short boots and foul weather pants to keep me dry. Stay off the black rocks and use a line that loads the rod with a short amount of line out.
You have to cast quick and direct and be able to lift your line up and out and recast with a quick flip.

The line has to have mass to be able to do that easily. Droppers work rally well and use stout leaders 25# is not over the top but in the middle.
I would recommend flatwings because they move so well in current and there is lots of current.

July and August are good months for fishing in the rocks and there are monster fish available to anyone who wants to fish for them.
Three good areas in R.I. are the Narragansett shore from Point Judith north to the Narrow river, Jamestown the whole southern end including Beavertail and both forts and Newport along Ocean drive and also Sachuest Point and Eastons point.
Summer is a good time to fish the rocks as the fish are there and close. It is always an adventure to fish the rocky surf with flies.
You just may get lucky and hook that fish of a life time.
