When I am fishing thew hump of a wave, I usually try to mend the line so that the fly(ies) are in line with the wave. In other words, the flies are parallel to the wave. My question is this, If the fish are travelling in the wave hump, in the same direction, would it be better to present the flies perpendicular to the direction of the fish's supposed direction of travel, so they see the fly's full profile, rather than tail first? Obviously, I try both, but which do people think is the "better" way to do it. If we just cast straight out, perpendicular to the shore, then the fly will be perpendicular to the line of travel of the fish, but probably not hold in the hump of the wave.
