Subject: I have decided....

That the local estuaries are my favorite place for fishing.

Maybe it's because they are small areas, "little water"
or maybe it's because i know where the fish are
now , after going there so frequently,
and carefully observing everything I can.
In every way I have learned to do just that.
or it could be because it is so close to home,
right under my nose all these years and I have
only recently found it to be such a wonderful place to fish.
Or just be.
so many stripers. countless types of bait.

It is so peaceful there. You can hear the fish pop under the bridge, or splash way down back.
My best night at the estuary was not
a night that I caught a keeper.

it was one night late last fall.
It was the night I caught a fish not quite big enough to keep. But it didn't survive the catch.
I knew I was being watched all night as I fished.
The howling echoed so loud near me, that I thought
there might be a dozen coyotes in the area.
I left the fish out in the open on the kayak launch area.
I left and drove down the road a bit,
sure enough one of my coyote friends came and grabbed my gift.
A great night.
