I saw something interesting yesterday on the Sportsman's Channel. They were fishing a western stream for cutthroat. The fish were holding in deeper water on the outside of the bends, and they were fishing 3" curly tail grubs with light jigheads, and were swinging them in the current and along seams-dead drifting and greased line swing. The interesting part was that they were fishing them with 9' 6wt fly gear with floating lines! Imagine that-they were using floating lines because they could control the drift and mend and swing the grub more effectively.
