Went up North this past weekend for some smallmouth fishing. Used small spooks and un-weighted texas rigged rubber worms to tease out some fish along shore. Got back yesterday and went to one of my haunts last night with the same texas rigged power worm on ten pound test leader and six pound line, with only the hook as weight. Spotted myself a nice little striper amongst lots of shad and cast the worm to him and let it slowly sink. BAM. Watched him shoot out of the hole in the weeds he was stationing in and grab my worm. Wasn't quite sure if I could hook a striper with the hook rigged weedless, but found out it was no problem. Fish was hooked in the corner of the mouth with out having to perform a nut dropping hook set, sticky sharp hooks. It actually worked out pretty well. The worm was set up so shad couldn't get hooked no matter how many times they hit but stripers would.
