Subject: Finessing a plug |

I know that there is a productive plugging board but it seems to me that plugs can be finessed too. Haven't been playing with jigs and plastic lately but have been playing with floating swimming plugs using heavy and light gear in small and large water and working them extremely slow.
A long cast would literaly take ten to fifteen minutes to finish.
It is amazing that a fish will hit a plug that is just floating there with an occasional twitch here and there. Discipline is tough when there are fish breaking in front of you and you want to crank faster to get there attention. Sticking with it is very rewarding though.
Learning how to set the hook has been a real education. As Ken recomends using the reel is the only way. When I miss a fish it is always because I am not paying attention and use the rod. Sticky sharp hooks are still key to good hook sets also.
So can finesse also mean heavy gear in big water with plugs????
