A little known aproach is the sppring is to cast a large Hoocy Troll in Flouresent Red in rivers and salt ponds and reel, "twice as as fast,' as you can along shallow edges of channels, edges of bars and weed beds.

A high speed retrieve on the reel helps.
Amazing on big fish. I learned it in the sixties.
It is a commercial technique.
