I dreamed of a week where my beeper would not sound I was on-call each night and not to be found. Foresaken was the hospitalist, I had become the half moon nocturnalist.
Hearty breakfasts were served at 5 PM. Supper at dawn included eggs and ham.
There were worms and shrimp and sand eels too. Cigars, cigarettes and a drink or two. My Dad was there and maybe you.
Coves and parks and rivers and streams Many places I had never seen There were fish and flies and a girl named Briana Do you think it may have been Montana?
A sense of magic in the air And for that we gave away all care To see the world in its place Put us in a state of grace
Order established by the flow Static structure it does not know A dead drifted fly answers the call And to it big stripers would fall
In the end it was my brother and I Heavy rain fell from a moonless sky Washing all that was before Leaving us an open door
