Gulls sitting, Night herons on the beach or in trees, Ducks arriving at the change of tide, Geese arriving at any stage of the tide, Gulls wheeling up and circling, Birds following weed lines and current seams, Crows gathered on beaches in specific spots, and everything in between.

Counting how long a cormorant stays down and what direction he swims. 23 seconds is about the max. The less time he stays down and the tighter the area he fishes the tighter and more abundant the bait. Noticing how close to the rocks he is feeding in the surf and in backwaters. Diving ducks and where they are diving.

Domestic ducks and mallards arriving in harbors and estuaries signal the worm hatch and shrimp swarms and/or small bait is present in great abundance.
They are not herbovores no matter what is published. They love meat and eat it every chance they get.

Everything has meaning for those with eyes to see the connections.
I loved it the day I noticed the connection to sections of beach that held fish to the crows.
I do not know why but it is real.
Lots of mysteries out there for people who can see and nothing but closed mindedness from those who refuse to wonder at the connections no matter how unreasonable they may seem.
