The structure and the way fish use it relative to their movements stay the same.
The simplistic answer is to not see the simple and to complexify. It varies but in amplitude not into an unobservable pattern. To see the pattern takes skill and desire.
Not all those who fish the flats or anyplace else every day are aware that there are patterns to discern. There are some who only fish periodically who do look for the patterns and find them easily.
Patterning fish is a skill that everyone can learn if they think that it is possible to do it and it is impossible to learn if they do not think it is possible to do it.
A barren dry flat is a good starting point and so is a full of water one. The empty, to see how fish move up on a flat and a full flat to see how they move down off one.
It is something that can be done because some people can do it and therefore it is do-able. Those that can do - do it - and those that can't or won't do it - don't.
It is easier to run and gun and follow the crowd. Patterning fish takes work and patience and discipline. That is why so few are interested enough to learn how do it.
