I know a place where two fish come at a certain time
Always two, never three, never five, never one.
They swim under the lights at night
Their path traces a big triangle
At least it might be a triangle
Because part of their pattern they swim in the darkness
And cannot be seen.
I fished hard for them the first week I ever saw them
That pair didn't even acknowledge my presence
I don't think I even spooked them once!
Which was strange, because at other times
It is a "one shot one fish" spot
Maybe two if you are tricky in how you fight...
And then one night
From a distance I saw an old man under those lights
I saw him pitch a tiny jig
And nail that bass!
Next year two bass came to that very same spot
It is a bit mysterious why it is always two bass!
It doesn't have to be the same bass, just two...
And they arrived
At the very same time
And swam in that very same pattern
At night under the lights...
