The beach break is that little drop right where the wave breaks. It can be a few inches deep or a few feet on some beaches. It is a trough and if you wade out you find it as it is a step down. Like a curb stone and some places like a three foot wall.

The area where the waves wash up just inside the beach break (that is its actual name) is called the swash zone.

When the fish come up in the swash zone chasing the bait they are very catchable.
