Mike, spinnerbaits work in murky water for the same reason bulky flies work at night, and chartruese lures catch so many fish during the day. They are easier to see under those conditions. Flashing blades draw attention in cloudy water. When you check your fly for fouling at night you hold it up to silhouette the fly against the sky. Bulkier flies make easier to see silhouettes. Fire and highway departments often paint their vehicles chartruese. It's the most visible color under most conditions. The most visible to you, me, and the fish. Here is a thought I hold dear. "Human beings find complex answers to simple questions." It helps me understand fishing concepts, the war in Iraq, and just what the heck my boss is trying to tell me. If this sounds like preaching, I'm sorry. I just think vibration is one of those complex answers that doesn't hold much water. As far as the science goes the lateral line can pick out objects only at about a body length away. At that range sight should be more important than how prey vibrates.
