Subject: Re: When do you stop night fishing?

Lots of people do quit.

The Tuesday night group keeps on fishing nights through December and some guys into Jan and Feb at night and do very well.

Floating lines and natural presentations on or near the surface work at night all year long.

There will be many posts in the fishing reports on this type of fishing as the Winter draws near.

There is a post on the super post page from Rockfisherman that is a great read on night fishing in Winter.
My most memorable night winter fishing was on New Years eve on the millenium with my friend Mark.

Fish on the surface feeding and we caught five in a short period of time and I achieved my goal of catching the first striper of the new millenium.

Of course it was not an aberration as we had been fishing right along to these fish all through December so it was a slam dunk. It is this way every year.

Some people like to fish deep with jigs and that is fine but you do not have to fish that way if you do not want to.

The fish fight like the Dickens and are not logy or slow and they are not small.

Also there is plenty of bait around all winter.
Winter fishing is not what the writers say it is at all and that is because they do not do it. They just write what has already been written over and over again.

The Thames river has a lot of folks fishing there all winter long with all kinds of methods and they catch a lot of fish at night and sometimes in the daytime.
It depends on when they go.

There are a lot of myths about striper fishing that are never questioned even though they are totally bogus.
