There are more than a few places up here that I want to use this technique. Boulder fields that have current running thru them, and a few slots that the fish tend to travel thru from place to place. I've been afraid to use conventional jigs because of the possibilty of getting hung up and or the problem of line abrasion. Using an egg will give me the opportunity to fish these places in a very methodical manner with controlled drifts and at controlled depths, either from shore or a kayak.

I've also used the egg to get flies out to fish I couldn't reach with a fly rod. Both along rocky shore lines and in estuaries. I can remember one instance a few years ago at Singing Beach where the wind was blowing right in on shore. Fish were just out of reach with the fly rod. Huge surf! Switching to the egg and spinning gear enabled me stand back up on the beach out of the surf, reach the fish and to continue to fish with flies.
