It's not easy. I fish them like I would fish pocket water on the Ausable river in upstate New York: short casts and a nymphing technique. I try not to leave the fly in the water for very long; almost like dappling. A floating line of course, and try circle hooks. The circle hook is said to function to be somewhat "weedless". A surprising number of fish inhabit these waters. I've had boulder fields produce fish on nearly every cast. It's exciting water to fish. You do have to watch out for your knees. I did wind up with a knee arthroscopy from slamming my knees on the rocks one too many times.
