I would question where they fish.
Korkers are a must if you have any common sense. Bravado is very immature although it has its place in mating and dominance rituals.
People have been killed and injured seriously that would not have been killed or injured if they had been wearing korkers.

Felts belong in freestone rivers with no slime or heavy growth.
Trout fishing footwear not suited for surf fishing on rocks or anyplace that has heavy growth on bottom structure.

Perhaps they are just too cheap to buy them and will not admit it.
