I guess I was more wondering about the general presentation issue rather than the actual mechanics. When fishing the rocks below the surface, do you get a better drift with shot closer to the fly than with lead core up the leader? I don't think Bert's success was due to jigging action per se, his fish hit on the initial drop through the wash. For those of you that fish the rocks alot is there a general initial strategy or is it constant trial and error (lead core works is great some time, shot next to fly another...)?
