Subject: timelessness....

It took me a little while.
But I think I finally figured it out....
I was fishing yesterday evening into dusk.
On this really secluded little stretch of beach facing southwest looking towards newport and beyond.
The sky was as clear as it could ever be.
The sun setting created more hues of blue between the sky and the water than could possibly be imagined.
I fished from the rocks then I fished from the beach.
Not one person to be seen. Just me.
I fished from another set of rocks halfway up the beach where i found some current.
I continued to move all the way to the end of the beach where a long bar reaches all the way out to more really large rocks.
After i had exhausted all my abilities as a beginner,
I stood there and realized how fortunate I was.
It could have been any point in the human calendar this day.
It could have been any year for all i could tell from what surrounded me. 2001?, 1946?,1929 ?
Maybe even longer ago.
Someone could have stood on these rocks over one hundred years ago.
or a hundred years from now.
the beach follows no rules of time that we have fabricated for ourselves.
it's just here.
you could be in your twenties, thirties, sixty.
it's all meaningless here.
the same fish, generations of them will follow this same path, as always.
I hope some day my kids, and more after them
will fish off these very same rocks.
in this timeless place.
one of the most beautiful places you could ever be.
so i guess for me,
this striped bass
he is wonderful.
But the best thing about him, is where he lives.
Where we meet.
Where our clocks and calendars do not exist.
