Subject: Each night is different

I have fished at least two nights on each of the last three sping tides and each night asks for something different within the same idea. The stuff in the water last night was the same as two nights ago and the same as the last new moon and previous full moon (breaking with the idea, an orange bomber did take too many fish for days straight): 1 1/2" worms that shoot around at about 4-6 below the surface and silversides from 2-4". But even though to my eye the bait looks the same, is in the same place, and the stripers hold in the same spots different patterns are required each night. One night a red gurgler with a 2" Ray's fly on a dropper works and on another only an orange bomber works. Last night I tried different combinations until the Nacht Tern silverside took a fish then the Red Ruthless took over from there. The foam keeps the fly in the top 6 inches throughout the drift. This is necessary while fishing a slow current. In fast water the float doesn't seem to make a difference because the hits come at the end when the flys are swung to the surface from their 6 inch below surface drift depth. To me it is a wonderment that each night requires something different.
