No -- the eyes definitely weigh something and do provide some jigging action, but just not as much as I think most people believe. Most people use the medium to large eyes (designated 6/64 and 7/64, I think), which really aren't that heavy. If you retrieve slowly with a pause, the definitely bob up and down head first, but on a faster or steadier retrieve, there's not that much jigging, but more of a kind of lazy swim. I think it's the slightly wavy, up and down swim that makes them most effective on an erratic retrieve. When swung Nemes style, I think the lead is just weight to get them down some. That make sense?
