O.K. I'll put one up for consideration. Here's a crab pattern based on Rich Murphy's defense crab.I was playing around with some EZBody last year that had been sitting on the bench unopened for a couple of years. The technique is simple. Find a drop off with not too much current. Lob it out, let it sink and bring it back ever-so-ever-so-slooooow. A couple of "twitches" and let it sit. Takes often come when the crab is sitting still on the bottom. You can feel the fish "suck" the fly in - its almost imperceptible but you can feel it. Only problem is they tend to suck the pattern way back in the throat and you get a lot of deep hooked fish so, crush the barbs down and carry long-nose haemostats or try them on circle hooks. I found they work well around the turn of the tide when there's not much water movement.
Nice thing about EZbody is you can put whatever you want inside. I did a couple with foam that float but haven't tried them yet. I've also ties a few with glass rattles that have yet to be tested. But the sinking version works!
