Subject: south side of fisher's

took my friend's 21' CC out for a spin on saturday with my cousin from boston. we fished around bartlett's unsuccessfully for a bit at first light (although it felt and looked as fishy as could be w/ mullet and peanuts present and terns feeding actively), then made our way around race rock to the south side of fisher's as the tide began to subside. We had some fun with cruising bass and BIG blues, mostly singles and doubles (without another boat around). The fish would disappear in the eel grass and then re-appear over the sand. More than once, my cousin had big bass follow his eel punt all the way to the boat. The fish would seemingly appear out of nowhere. I had a nice bass following a small peanut bunker pattern at about 30 feet, only to have it intercepted by a LARGE bluefish which made quick work of my leader. The water was crystal clear. The fish would refuse all but the sparse-est of flies, and prefered those tied with only a little flash. it was one of those days where we actually had plenty of fun not catching, but just watching and learning.
