I was fishing a flat on Saturday afternoon. Water was clear and moving nicely along. Clear sky breezy from the SW. I knew there were blues around so I put 8 inches of 50# mono on my 30# tippet. After three casts I take a keeper striper. Followed by a couple 6# blues and a few more smaller blues then it ended. The blues were picky as to where I was presenting the fly. All fish took it if I kept the fly right along a small drop off and used a retrieve of 3 pulls rest etc. I have never read that stripers take flies connected to 50# mono on clear flats. Was this an anomaly? Are 10# tippets a myth?
