Whenever you hear something like, "You have to, you should, you ought, that is time for the polite smile and the thank you.

"You have to use ten pound tippet aound here;
You should use ten pound tippet around here,
you ought to use ten pound tippet around here,"
are tip offs that a closed belief system may be giving you advice.
It is a subtle thing and is meant to be helpful and sometimes is but the cumulative effect is that everyone always uses the same approach to various situations as everyone else and nothing new is learned other than very creative excuses.
