well just started my spring fishing. the water is high and i can barely make any head way with my boat in the rapid up here in the great white north of vermont. Tried from shore last saturday and caugth a 23 inch brown on my 3rd cast then on the forth i hooked its brother. There was not much water to fish from shore so headed back with my first fish of the year. I went again this saturday from the same spot and caught a 24 inch raibow, it took me a whole 30 of fishing to get that one. i must be loosing my touch. I finally put my boat in again sunday and managed to get up into the rapids after 2 hours of navigating eddies and hugging the shoreline. I have never seen the water this high and was actually trolling in a corn field and my son caught two Browns in the field one 20 and the other 17 inches. If i could have kept the hay from fouling my prop maybe i could have had time to fish myself. Well Looks like i will get a few in the 10 pound range this year as the fish seem to be running a bit larger then average. Last year the fish seemed to be below the 8 pound range although I did see some fish and hooked a few over 30 inches in lenght. I think the state records are injeapordy if the fish keep growing so well here.
